My adidas Ultra Boost experience

About two weeks ago in the heart of New York City’s financial district, at the historic landmark of 23 Wall Street, adidas running gave me a look at the brand new ULTRA BOOST, their soon to be released premium runner which is wrapped in a PRIMEKNIT upper and a midsole which boasts 20% more BOOST foam than any other shoe they have designed to date. The runner also features a thin but strong STRETCH WEB outsole that gives an ever closer feel between the ground and the ULTRA BOOST technology.

The company has been touting the ULTRA BOOST as the “greatest running shoe they have ever designed” and they were out to prove it today with an impressive display which featured us being able to actually try out the shoe itself as well as talk with designers and adidas athletes about its creation.

The shoe was unveiled via a presentation that resembled a dystopian revolution clad in darkness and the steel of the classic building, which then changed to bright colors and lights when the shoe was finally brought out. Once the pageantry of the event subsided, we were able to try the ULTRA BOOST on and I have to give it to adidas as they have crafted an incredibly comfortable shoe. Immediately after slipping the sneakers on, we walked up a few flights of stairs and I could feel a noticeable “bounce back” not only in the heel of the shoe where most sneakers have their highest levels of cushioning but also in the front which was a really nice surprise and lived up the hype adidas had created.

As we checked out some of the displays, we talked with both Buffalo Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins and Jamaican sprinter Yohan Blake about their experience with the ULTRA BOOST technology and both men discussed the comfort level of the shoe and breathability being two of their favorite aspects. Watkins also commented about using the ULTRA BOOST as a training shoe, “first thing I look at is the front of the shoe because I have to make sure my toes are moving around because I can’t have my toes being restricted. It will just hold you back and then you can’t get that bounce that you need when you’re training. The PRIMEKNIT on these just gives me that freedom.”

Another athlete adidas had out to show us the advantage of wearing the ULTRA BOOST was Kenyan runner Wilson Kipsang. Kipsang tested the shoe for us while using a motion capture system to display the points of impact of his foot and show how the ULTRA BOOST technology compared to both him running barefoot as well as when he wore the Nike FLYKNIT LUNAR 2. The results showed the ULTRA BOOST being able to move with the foot more naturally, instead of not stretching like most sneakers would.

Overall, the adidas ULTRA BOOST definitely looks like a shoe runners will want to look into as its release date approaches. The comfort on the shoe can’t be ignored and adidas claims the ULTRA BOOST technology in the shoe will hold up after multiple wears meaning a long term, comfortable run for athletes. Only time will tell if the ULTRA BOOST will feel as comfortable on its 100th wear as it did on its first but the shoe definitely seems to be off to a good start.

You can pick up the adidas ULTRA BOOST for $180 when it releases online in limited quantities on 2/11/15 and then at adidas retailers on 11/25/15.

BIG HERO 6 Is Available Digitally And It Made My Son’s Night

Last night my 2.5 year old son was being particularly good before dinner time so I decided to treat him to watching a movie in our living room. What I didn’t realize was his favorite movie and the first film he ever sat through in a theater, BIG HERO 6, is now available for digital download.

The BluRay/DVD hits stores on 2/24/15 but I couldn’t wait, the film was just too much fun. I cant recommend this movie enough as a parent. It is a beautiful tale with tons of action and a lot of heart. If you haven’t seen it yet, it is a must own and one of Disney’s best in years.

Suffice it to say, the little guy had a great time re-watching it.

Batman Unlimited,  New Animated Content Inspired by Mattel’s New Batman Toy Line, to Debut Spring 2015

All-New Animated Shorts Based on the Fisher-Price Imaginext DC Super Friends Toy Line to Premiere Spring 2015

BURBANK, Calif., Feb. 2, 2015 (Virtual Press Office) — Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP), DC Entertainment, and Warner Bros. Animation today unveiled an unprecedented wave of content inspired by two of the company’s most successful toy lines developed in partnership with Mattel and Fisher-Price. Batman Unlimited will debut as a made-for-video animated movie entitled Batman Unlimited: Animal Instincts that stars Batman alongside key Super Hero allies such as The Flash, Red Robin and Green Arrow, coming face to face with DC Comics Super-Villain, The Penguin, and never-before-seen cyber animals. The sequel is set to release the second half of 2015.  Batman Unlimited: Animal Instincts will be available on May 12, 2015 on Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD and Digital HD from Warner Bros. Consumer Products.

Adding to the slate of new Batman Unlimited content, Warner Bros. will release 22 stand-alone, two-minute shorts. Featuring additional story elements, the shorts will be available for fans to enjoy online for free on dedicated channels. Companion apps will also be produced for young fans to extend and develop their experience in an interactive new way.

“We are thrilled to be working with our Warner Bros., Mattel and Fisher-Price colleagues to create new Batman and DC Super Friends kids’ content,” stated DC Entertainment President Diane Nelson. “These new animated projects will offer all new Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman adventures that seamlessly jump from toybox to screen.”

Building upon Mattel’s hugely successful Batman toy line, the new Batman Unlimited content will bring a new wave of Mattel toys expanded under the banner of Batman Unlimited, including action figures with Animal Ally accessories, a new Batmobile, and the all-new CybeRex robot dinosaur, all featured in the Batman Unlimited content. Additionally, DC Comics master costume partner, Rubie’s Costumes, has signed on to support the new content with a line of inspired-by dress-up and costumes; and toymaker Thinkway will introduce new Batman Unlimited-themed role-play accessories.  Batman Unlimited will also have a major QSR partner in 2015, with other key categories, such as apparel, to be announced at a later time.

“Our longstanding collaboration with WBCP has given Mattel the opportunity to engage fans of all ages with the very best in DC Comics Super Hero play,” said Doug Wadleigh, Senior Vice President & General Manager, Mattel Toy Box. “It is a true compliment that our evergreen DC Comics toy lines have inspired a whole new universe of storytelling that will dramatically expand kids’ imaginative play with their favorite Super Heroes.”

Also debuting in spring 2015, Warner Bros. Animation will release a slate of DC Super Friends animated shorts featuring designs inspired by the popular Fisher-Price Imaginext DC Super Friends toy line. The 15 three-minute shorts will extend the characters’ storylines for fans to enjoy online for free on dedicated channels. Accompanying the shorts will be the release of companion apps that offer young DC Comics fans the chance to advance the storyline and further engage with their favorite characters.

DC Super Friends content will build upon the existing world of Fisher-Price Imaginext DC Super Friends toys with an expansion of the toy line following the shorts. Exciting additions to the line include all-new playset environments seen in the shorts such as The Joker Laff Factory, as well as a new design of the fan-favorite Batcave, all of which will feature Imaginext’s interactive Power Pad, enabling kids to activate key features in the toy. Among other key categories to come, Publishing partners will also partake in the expanded universe of DC Super Friends storytelling with new titles.

The Trailer for Episode 2 of Telltale Games’ GAME OF THRONES is here!!

This looks awesome!

Here’s the info straight from Telltale and check out the new trailer below.

Based on the award-winning HBO television drama series, Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series tells the story of House Forrester. Caught up in the events of The War of the Five Kings, they are placed in a precarious position where members of the household must do everything they can to prevent the house from meeting its doom.

“The Lost Lords,” the second episode in the critically-acclaimed game series, will be available Tuesday, February 3rd on PC and Mac from the Telltale Online Store, Steam, and other digital distribution services, and on the PlayStation®Network for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3. The episode will be available on Wednesday, February 4th on the Xbox Games Store for Xbox One® and Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. The series will also be coming to compatible iOS devices via the App Store on Thursday, February 5th and to compatible Android-based devices.

Critics have praised the game since its premiere episode, with Entertainment Weekly commending its “drama as intriguing as some of the HBO series’ most complex stories.”Nerdist.com also claimed that Iron From Ice was a, “deeply compelling, lovingly crafted, and exceedingly fun game tailor-made for Game of Thrones fans,” while Game Informer called it, “…thrilling, crushing, bloody and unpredictable.”

The game series is based on the world, characters and events seen in HBO’s TV show, which in turn is based on George R. R. Martin’s books (A Song of Ice and Fire). The events in the game series begin towards the end of Season Three of the series, and end right before the beginning of Season Five. Players will visit familiar locations such as King’s Landing and The Wall, as well as unfamiliar locations such as Ironrath, the home of House Forrester.

House Forrester is a noble house from the Wolfswood in the north of Westeros. Bannermen to House Glover, they have always offered unswerving loyalty to the ruling great house of the North – the Starks. The Forresters are seated at Ironrath, an imposing stronghold surrounded by towering ironwood trees. Built over fifteen hundred years ago by Cedric Forrester and his triplet sons, Ironrath is a testament to the strength and endurance of ironwood. The Forrester house words are ‘Iron from Ice’, which echoes their belief that – like the ironwood itself – the adverse conditions and unforgiving landscape of the North only makes them stronger.

The game will be played from five different points of view. Each is a member of House Forrester; either a direct family member, or a person in service to the House. Scattered across Westeros and Essos, each will play their part in seeking to save House Forrester from destruction.

Playing as five characters not only reflects the epic scope of Game of Thrones, but is also something that the player needs to be mindful of. This is because the actions of one character can ripple out to affect the rest of House Forrester. Multiply the actions of one character by five, and you’re truly playing the Game of Thrones… where you win, or you die.
