AVATAR, THE #1 MOVIE OF ALL TIME MAKES ITS COMIC BOOK DEBUT WITH DARK HORSE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: NEW YORK, NY —During a special panel at New York Comic Con 2015, Dark Horse Comics in conjunction with Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products and James Cameron’s Lightstorm Entertainment announced that AVATAR, the highest-grossing film in history, will expand into the world of comic books in anticipation of the three upcoming film sequels.
In a special prerecorded message, James Cameron revealed that the new series of comics will help shed more light on the mythology and history of the beloved film franchise.
Cameron also noted, “For the past twenty-seven years, Dark Horse has been associated with my films The Terminator, Aliens, and The Abyss. I am excited that between now and the release of the first sequel, Dark Horse Comics will be bringing you new adventures from Pandora—covering the time before, during, and after the events of the original AVATAR film.”
“James Cameron is one of the film industry’s greatest talents. His films, always on the cutting edge technologically, feature rich characters and amazing worlds, a fact reflected in AVATAR’s status as the all time box-office champion,” said Dark Horse president and publisher Mike Richardson. “We couldn’t be more excited about working with James and his team at Lightstorm to expand the breathtaking world of Pandora.”

Released in 2009, James Cameron’s AVATAR is the highest-grossing film in motion picture history, with a box office gross of nearly $2.8 billion. Mesmerizing all ages across the globe with its otherworldly visuals and groundbreaking special effects, the film quickly became a worldwide phenomenon so popular it will be followed by three sequels, with the first sequel due for release in late 2017. AVATAR was named best drama at the Golden Globes and won Academy Awards for cinematography, visual effects and art direction.

Our last big Crowd Play event was a pretty amazing experience. LEGO MARVEL’S AVENGERS Shines In New NYCC Trailer
Earlier today in the halls on New York Comic Con TT Games debuted the bran new trailer for its upcoming LEGO MARVEL’S AVENGERS game. While we already knew we’d see the plots of the first two AVENGERS films play out for gamers, were also learning that added into that will be content from CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER, CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER, IRON MAN 3 & THOR: THE DARK WORLD.
On top of all of the MCU plots and characters this game will also feature tons of non MCU (so far) characters from the comics and overall MARVEL Universe.

NYCC 2015: STAR WARS REBELS Season 2 Trailer And Cast Bring More Depth To The Series
I was also at the STAR WARS REBELS press conference yesterday where Dave Filoni (creator), Taylor Gray (Ezra), Ashley Eckstein (Ahsoka) and newcomer to the franchise Sarah Michelle Gellar (The Seventh Sister) were on hand to answer questions about the new season and where it is all going from here. Gellar expressed her joy at having a part in the larger Star Wars universe and is happy she’s not the only member in her household now (husband Freddy Prinze Jr. voices Kanan). The team also shared how they don’t attempt to force the topic of strong female characters as much as the create it to happen more organically. Dave Fioni said you can expect a lot from the ladies of REBELS this season but because in his eyes “thats just the way it is, it’s equal” They want both strong male and female characters to tell the overall story of REBELS.
We also learned a few other tidbits from the Q & A including:
- all inquisitors are trained on the same spinning sabre blade the grand inquisitor used in season 1
- that Clones who didn’t execute order 66 were immediately executed by their brethren due to subcommands in the order. Also by this point any remaining clones would be to old for service and would be disposed of by the empire.
- The idea of Ezra becoming Kylo Ren was brought up as a question but Filoni laughed it off while star Taylor Gray was blown away by the idea and said he wants it to happen.
- Filoni said he is in contact with all of the directors of the upcoming films
- there is a story team who keeps all continuity in order across all mediums
Overall the cast and crew of STAR WARS REBELS gives off the vibe that they are completely invested in the future of the series and the star wars franchise as a whole. It is cleary visible in the shows storytelling and hopefully will be echoed through the films in years to come.

What Exclusives To Be On The Lookout For At NYYC 2015
“It’s time! It’s time! NYCC is upon us!”
As those words ring through my brain, I sit here thinking about how fun and hectic the next several days will be as New York Comic Con descends upon the city that never sleeps. Being an east coast guy and never having made the pilgrimage to San Diego, this is what I consider “Comic-Con”.
Over the years, the show at the Javitts center has grown to an almost nauseating size as enormous crowds will flock into the city and do everything they can to keep me from getting my hands on the exclusives I need in my life. It’s always tough and there are always items I miss out on but with proper planning we should all be able to get our hands on some cool exclusives.
With that said, I always want to try and do my part by helping point out some of what I consider the best NYCC exclusives and hopefully show you exactly how and where to pick these beauties up. This year seems to be lacking a little as a few companies who normally have NYCC exclusives are nowhere to be seen but there are still some cool items nonetheless. Let’s take a look at some of the best of what this year has to offer:

FUNKO EXCLUSIVES
This is a pretty big one. Funky items are always sought after at NYCC and if you’re looking for some of the most exclusive from the FUNKO booth itself, there are a few changes this year. basically, here is how it will go:
How do I get in line?
You will need a ticket to get in line for the Funko booth!
Tickets for the Funko booth will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis in Hall 1C at 11:00 AM and 2:30 PM each day. Once you have a ticket, you are eligible to get in line to shop at the Funko booth, which you can find at Booth #722.
In other words, you can’t get in line for the Funko booth without a ticket! This includes NYCC VIP badge-holders!
The queue for our ticket line is up to the discretion of NYCC. It is our understanding that the hall needs to be emptied before we can allow a line to form. However, whether or not lines form before 11 AM is beyond our control and will be determined by NYCC.
Tickets are valid for that day and time only. We will not honor late ticket-holders or tickets from previous days.
How is the booth going to run this year?
We understand it is frustrating to wait in a long line!
In an effort to streamline the process and keep the line moving quickly, we are utilizing an order sheet system. Everyone who receives a ticket for the booth will also receive an order sheet. You will mark each item you want on this sheet. When you reach check-out, a Funko booth worker will take your order sheet and retrieve all the items you have marked that are still available.
Is there a limit?
There will be a strict limit of one of each item per customer.
What if I have other people in my group (children, friends, etc.)?
Each member of your group must have their own ticket, completed order form, and be present at check-out. One person may pay for all the orders, but everyone must be present.
Will vendors be limited?
Yes. Attendees with “Exhibitor” badges will not be able to receive a ticket at 11:00 AM. If you have an “Exhibitor” badge, you may go to Hall 1C at 2:30 PM to try for a ticket.
If I fill out an order sheet, am I guaranteed to get everything I want?
Filling out an order sheet does not guarantee your order. Items may sell out before you reach the front of the line. Your order will be fulfilled based on availability at the time you reach check out.
Will other retailers be sharing any of these items?
Certain pieces will be available at other retailers in limited quantities.
These retailers will make their own announcements regarding what pieces they will have in stock.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but in my eyes 2015 has been a pretty depressing year so far. It was an exciting time to be a kid with an imagination but as we have fast forwarded 26 years and are now smack in the middle of the 2015 that BTTF II promised, the world we have is nothing like the fantastical dream we all grew up with.
Yes, we have cool computers and phones that can do things we didn’t even imagine possible back then but as far promises the film gave us goes, we are severely lacking. There’s still no hover boards or hover conversions for cars, Nike still hasn’t perfected self lacing shoes, Im still waiting for holographic JAWS, I cant hydrate a pizza, my jacket doesn’t dry itself, weather is still hard to predict, all lawyers haven’t been abolished and we are all still waiting to see if the Chicago Cubs live up to their 2015 destiny.
It kind of sucks to see how many fun things from the film never really came to be and how more companies didn’t really embrace the nerdy celebration that many of us hoped October 2015 would really be but thanks to Pepsi, one of those cool futuristic promises is actually here. Pepsi Perfect, the drink Doc Brown sends Marty into the Cafe 80’s to buy with a crisp $50 bill is actually being released. While not as easy to grab as it was for Marty in the film, fans can actually get their hands on the collectible through an online sale for the price of $20.15. There will also be some limited chances for fans to grab a bottle at NYCC this weekend as pepsi will have a special booth on display to celebrate the product and Back To The Future II.

Surprising Back to the Future fans everywhere, Pepsi officially confirms the long-awaited creation of Pepsi Perfect – the famous soda Marty McFly orders in the second installment of one of the most beloved trilogies in motion-picture history. The fantastical cola, made famous by the film, will officially be available on October 21, 2015, paying homage to the date Marty McFly travels to in the future. If our calculations are correct, Pepsi will make the future a reality on October 21, 2015 and unlock limited quantities of Pepsi Perfect, available for purchase online while supplies last. Fans located in the U.S. can get their hands on 1 of 6,500 Pepsi Perfect bottles, each outfitted in a special collectible case. The 16.9 oz. bottles will contain Pepsi Made with Real Sugar and will sell for $20.15.

While the clock counts down to October 21, New York Comic Con ticketholders will step into a Pepsi Perfect world as they enter the Javits Center on Thursday, October 8. From sponsoring a Back to the Future focused panel to creating a Café 80’s inspired booth featuring a DeLorean and Wild Gunman arcade game, Pepsi Perfect will bring to life the magical world created by Back to the Future Part II.

Sarah Michelle Gellar Will Join The Darkside In STAR WARS REBELS Season 2
Sarah Michelle Gellar who is still beloved by fans everywhere for her classic role as Buffy the Vampire Slayer will be joining her real life husband Freddie Prinze Jr. on the new season of STAR WARS REBELS. Revealed today to BuzzFeed, Gellar appeared in a promotional video showing off her new character “The Seventh Sister” who will be a Inquisitor sent to track down the rebels and specifically Ahsoka Tano. Her character looks to be wielding a spinning duel balled lightsaber, very similar to the Inquisitor from Season 1 of REBELS but no details have been given about the possible connection.
If you’re a fan of STAR WARS and haven’t given REBELS a chance yet, I highly recommend it. The first season of the show blew past my initial expectations and really is what made me feel that Disney owning STAR WARS is what’s best for the future of the franchise. With this new season looking to focus on the growth of the rebellion, the relationship between Ahsoka and Vader and connections to the past and future of STAR WARS, I couldn’t be more excited to check it out.

Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 2 Tickets On Sale Now!!
If you are a huge fan of the Hunger Games series like I am, you’ll want to secure your tickets for opening night of this final film. I just got mine and there were definitely some seats already gone from the theater.
The film opens Friday November 20th with preview screening starting November 19th at 7pm but if you pay attention to the Fandango (and other sites) it looks like there will also be a special Double feature night on Wednesday November 18th which will screen Mockingjay Parts 1 & 2, back to back. Technically the screenings on 11/18 will be the first time fans can see the final film and thats what I got our tickets for because my family and I can’t wait.
