LEGO MARVEL’S AVENGERS Shines In New NYCC Trailer

The game will look and feel similar to recent LEGO superhero games but with some new features added in like combo moves that look reminiscent of the old MARVEL: ULTIMATE ALLIANCE games which is definitely not a bad thing for fans.

On top of all of the MCU plots and characters this game will also feature tons of non MCU (so far) characters from the comics and overall MARVEL Universe.

You can check out the trailer below and pickup LEGO MARVEL’S AVENGERS when it hits shelves on January 26th.

What Exclusives To Be On The Lookout For At NYYC 2015

“It’s time! It’s time! NYCC is upon us!”

As those words ring through my brain, I sit here thinking about how fun and hectic the next several days will be as New York Comic Con descends upon the city that never sleeps. Being an east coast guy and never having made the pilgrimage to San Diego, this is what I consider “Comic-Con”.

Over the years, the show at the Javitts center has grown to an almost nauseating size as enormous crowds will flock into the city and do everything they can to keep me from getting my hands on the exclusives I need in my life. It’s always tough and there are always items I miss out on but with proper planning we should all be able to get our hands on some cool exclusives.

With that said, I always want to try and do my part by helping point out some of what I consider the best NYCC exclusives and hopefully show you exactly how and where to pick these beauties up. This year seems to be lacking a little as a few companies who normally have NYCC exclusives are nowhere to be seen but there are still some cool items nonetheless. Let’s take a look at some of the best of what this year has to offer:

FUNKO EXCLUSIVES

This is a pretty big one. Funky items are always sought after at NYCC and if you’re looking for some of the most exclusive from the FUNKO booth itself, there are a few changes this year. basically, here is how it will go:

How do I get in line?

You will need a ticket to get in line for the Funko booth!

Tickets for the Funko booth will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis in Hall 1C at 11:00 AM and 2:30 PM each day. Once you have a ticket, you are eligible to get in line to shop at the Funko booth, which you can find at Booth #722.

In other words, you can’t get in line for the Funko booth without a ticket! This includes NYCC VIP badge-holders!

The queue for our ticket line is up to the discretion of NYCC. It is our understanding that the hall needs to be emptied before we can allow a line to form. However, whether or not lines form before 11 AM is beyond our control and will be determined by NYCC.

Tickets are valid for that day and time only. We will not honor late ticket-holders or tickets from previous days.

How is the booth going to run this year?

We understand it is frustrating to wait in a long line!

In an effort to streamline the process and keep the line moving quickly, we are utilizing an order sheet system. Everyone who receives a ticket for the booth will also receive an order sheet. You will mark each item you want on this sheet. When you reach check-out, a Funko booth worker will take your order sheet and retrieve all the items you have marked that are still available.

Is there a limit?

There will be a strict limit of one of each item per customer.

What if I have other people in my group (children, friends, etc.)?

Each member of your group must have their own ticket, completed order form, and be present at check-out. One person may pay for all the orders, but everyone must be present.

Will vendors be limited?

Yes. Attendees with “Exhibitor” badges will not be able to receive a ticket at 11:00 AM. If you have an “Exhibitor” badge, you may go to Hall 1C at 2:30 PM to try for a ticket.

If I fill out an order sheet, am I guaranteed to get everything I want?

Filling out an order sheet does not guarantee your order. Items may sell out before you reach the front of the line. Your order will be fulfilled based on availability at the time you reach check out.

Will other retailers be sharing any of these items?

Certain pieces will be available at other retailers in limited quantities.

These retailers will make their own announcements regarding what pieces they will have in stock.

How much are the exclusives?

The New BLACK PANTHER Arrives This Spring

MARVEL COMICS’ BLACK PANTHER #1 HELMED BY TA-NEHISI COATES
New York Times Bestselling Author Takes on T’Challa, a.k.a. the Black Panther

New York, NY—September 23rd, 2015— Marvel is excited to announce that next spring, one of the most thought-provoking and perceptive writers today, Ta-Nehisi Coates (Between the World and Me) along with legendary artist Brian Stelfreeze, will helm a new BLACK PANTHER series, adding an exciting, erudite new voice to the All-New, All –Different Marvel lineup.

The indomitable will of Wakanda — the famed African nation known for its vast wealth, advanced technology and warrior traditions — has long been reflected in the will of its monarchs, the Black Panthers. But now, the current Black Panther, T’Challa, finds that will tested by a superhuman terrorist group called The People that has sparked a violent uprising among the citizens of Wakanda.  T’Challa knows the country must change to survive — the question is, will the Black Panther survive the change?

“Wakanda is really the light of the world, in the Marvel Universe. And yet it’s a system of governance that has not advanced beyond the idea of blood-rule,” says Coates.  “It’s always seemed to me that T’Challa was aware of this discrepancy. Among the monarchs of Marvel –Namor and Doctor Doom for instance– T’Challa has always been distinguished to me by his discomfort on the throne, and with the problems of one-man rule. I am very much looking forward to exploring that tension.”

That tension and conflict is what will fire BLACK PANTHER #1 into a no-holds-barred adventure that will demonstrate why Black Panther is one of the most powerful heroes in the Marvel Universe.

“Ta-Nehisi writes brilliantly about everything from race to politics to fatherhood to modern culture, but he’s also a longtime Marvel reader. And combining his writing skills with his passion for and understanding of Marvel’s characters, paired with the captivating and engaging artwork of modern master Brian Stelfreeze, has led to a truly amazing story that we can’t wait for the world to read,” says Wil Moss, editor of the new BLACK PANTHER series. “This story will have all the political intrigue of the best episodes of THE WEST WING and HOMELAND, but it’s also going to have the trademark Marvel action and energy that Stan Lee & Jack Kirby (Black Panther’s creators!) built into the foundation of the Marvel Universe. Look for some fun and unexpected Marvel villains to show up in this story, as well as an appearance or two by T’Challa’s new teammates, The Ultimates.”

Join us next year as Marvel continues to change the creative landscape of the comic book industry as Ta-Nehisi Coates and Brian Stelfreeze make history as the new creative team on Marvel Comics’ BLACK PANTHER.

PATSY WALKER, A.K.A HELLCAT! #1 – This December the Cat is out of the Bag with Marvel’s Latest Female-led Series!

Written by Kate Leth (Adventure Time) and with art by Brittney Williams (Lumberjanes), PATSY WALKER, A.K.A. HELLCAT!  will spotlight this modern-day superhero who refuses to say NO to any adventure even if it does prove to be more than what she can handle.

She learned how to fight on the moon, so you KNOW she’s good at what she does and has the history to back it up.”

Beginning her heroic career with the Avengers and then becoming a core member of the Defenders, Hellcat’s new series will be inviting readers into a no-nonsense journey following this kick-ass super hero as she tries to make a name for herself alongside some of the most powerful Marvel heroines around.

“With this series, Kate and Brittney are going to provide a unique spin on the super hero, providing readers with a Patsy Walker who is both supremely relatable and supremely awesome,” says editor Wil Moss. “And look for guest appearances by all of Marvel’s top female heroes, including She-Hulk, Kate Bishop, Captain Marvel and maybe even the Unbeatable Squirrel Girl!”

Sorry For The Hiatus

For those of you kind enough to spend your time reading the words that I write, I wanted to apologize for neglecting this blog for the past few months. Ive been continuing my work with http://www.ThisIsInfamous.com and http://www.SoleCollector.com and have a few stories (below) that I enjoyed doing there if you want to check out.

Kids don’t stop needing their dad and the world does not stop spinning but despite that, I will attempt to pick myself back up and move forward with those of you who are checking me out. I thank you for your time.

My Iron Man 3 Thoughts

iron_man_3 screencap

So now that the films been out for a solid 2 weeks I figure its safe to discuss without spoiling the fun. Besides barely updating here, I also write reviews for AICN Comics and we recently had to share our thoughts on the newest adventures of Tony Stark. without further rambling here’s what I had to say:

So after basking in the event that was Iron Man 3: the IMAX 3D, Molest My Eyes and Ears with Sensory Overload Experience, I came out with several thoughts. First, I enjoyed this movie. It was much better than what we received in Iron Man 2 and for a third entry in a series I thought it did a great job keeping Iron Man as one of the top heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in a post-Avengers world. Second, (before any of you think it) yes, of course this movie was not better or anywhere near as close to an experience as The Avengers was. That’s a ridiculous thought to have, so just stop it. Avengers was a buildup that took years to achieve and I will credit Marvel because any film being the first that followed Avengers as next in the MCU line was going to have a lot of expectations to live up to and I think Iron Man 3 for the most part achieved that.

What did I not like? That’s a tough one. I don’t want to jump on the Mandarin complaint bandwagon but it was the part of the film that lost me the most. Honestly, it wasn’t even the “twist” that really bothered me. The idea of a manufactured threat from within was actually something I liked, what I didn’t like was that one moment of cheesy comic book movie cliché we got, as the line “I am The Mandarin!” was dropped during the films climax. It just felt like a throwaway line to connect the dots in case you couldn’t figure it out. It actually reminded me of Snape randomly yelling “I am the Half-blood Prince” at the end of Harry Potter 6, but that’s a whole ‘nother nerd argument I’ll have to have another day. I would have much preferred the mystery being left to Mandarin and instead I think the character devolved to a typical movie villain with super powers as the film came to a close. Villain issues aside, I still had a great time with the movie and although I’d have liked a little more, I think it’s safe to say phase 2 of the MCU is off to a good start.

Like what I had to say? Think I’m a moron who should never read or watch a movie again? Let me know in the comics below and as always,

I’ll see you when I see you folks
